Murphy Pizza, Ph.D first entered the Twin Cities as a researcher and graduate student in cultural anthropology, studying and writing her dissertation and book on the Twin Cities Pagan community (Paganistan: Ashgate, 2014) She since has become a participant in this and other magical communities, while cultivating her own reading and magical prescription style based on the rigorous study of cultures, religions, and folk traditions around the world.

Doc Murphy has taught courses on Modern Paganism and the Occult at the University of WI-Milwaukee, worked in world religions and ritual in social science and humanities courses at several Twin Cities colleges, is a proud member of the Twin Cities Pagan community (Paganistan), and a reader, rootworker and magician in the lineage of several skilled magical mentors and teachers in various religious communities, including Miss Cat Yronwode and the Lucky Mojo Curio Company community. She is a graduate of Miss Cat’s Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course, and has appeared as a guest, guest co-host, and guest announcer on the Lucky Mojo Hoodoo Rootwork Hour, where she has shared her knowledge and provided readings and rootwork advice live on the air. She was a distance tarot reader for the Temple of Miriam the Prophetess’s Jewish Magic Festival 2021 and for a short time participated in their Discord chat community of magicians, occultists, and seekers.

She is a member and on the council of Hay River FireHaven, a land-based Pagan Church in Paganistan (MN/WI), the hosts of the Sacred Fire Circle in Paradise. She is also the Lead Social Scientist and Oral Historian for The Cultural Archive of Modern Paganism (CAMP), doing grant-funded research on the history of the Pagan community; and a member of Harmony Tribe, creators of the Sacred Harvest Festival.

She now has her own blog Rose in the Retort and is working on a YouTube channel, where she reflects on the modern magical life. She also has formed an independent network of magical servicers and practitioners in the Twin Cities, The Sibyl’s Kitchen.

 Doc Murphy reads tarot, lenormand, uses trance and sortilege divination methods of various sorts, and can also provide tradition-based rootwork and spellwork consultations (reading + spell prescription). Her style is direct, no-nonsense, humorous, and down-to-earth, informed by a doctoral degree in the study of cultures and years in the college and grad-level classroom. Doc Murphy is also available for lectures, presentations, classes, book recommendations, and directional mentorship for seekers.

Unlike commercial online psychic reader services,  AIRR is a  membership-supported organization that receives no fees or kickbacks for referrals.
